Purple patches at the sides

The TV is KD-55X8005C. Yesterday, after a restart I've noticed two big purple spots on left and right bottom corners:

I'm 100% sure that those were not there before. The only think that happened the last couple of days is the new firware update 5.417, but I do not think a firmware can cause this?!?

Any ideas what could have caused this and is it fixable?

The TV is 3 years old and out of warranty, so out of luck.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi @d10a7k56m5e92e55 and welcome to the Community

I believe this is known as 'Magenta noise' and is a hardware problem rather than

an update problem. (Other manufacturers such as Samsung have had this occur too.)

You will probably need a new panel / screen.

Another member may be able to give a more technical description but

either way the only thing you can really do is call Support.

Just to help people with the same problem, I will post my recent findings. The problem is not with the matrix/panel but with the back light. For unknown to me reason some leds of the backlight started glowing in blue/purple color. To be able to prove to my local Sony "authorized" service that it is not the matrix/panel, I've opened the TV myself:
