Hi,

Well, I don't think so - but who knows. If the demand is high enough the manufacturers will follow.

Cheers

Will we see it, who knows? There are still many good SD channels and they are too disgusting on 4K. Even HD channels looks revolting.

@Peter_S.

An option I have long bruited about is that 4K sets should have a ‘virtual HD’ mode, in which upscaling is into 2x2 pixel sets.

Then, instead of the upscaling having to invent 15 out of every 16 pixels you see, with very patchy results on a 4K screen, it would only have to invent 3 out of 4 ‘megapixels’, making it comparable to the upscaling that an HD set would do.

A little bit of software on the 4K sets could thus entirely negate the need for a range of HD sets, and users like @denisk- could get what they want for SD to HD, while still being able to enjoy native 4K, and HD either as HD or upscaled to 4K.

And Sony would have a new USP to bring customers to its sets for a feature no existing TV (that I know of, anyway) currently has.
