Opening the back panel of Xperia L?

I bought an Xperia L the day it released and I have no problems with the phone. Though people are complaining about the camera experience its just thatcthey need to learn to use the focus, ISO, HDR settings and usage accordingly. The gaming experience is awesome. Music is good, as usual from Sony. The only problem I have is thst I cannot open the back panel. I have a 16 GB Class 10 SD card that I want to insert but I just cannot seem to open the back panel. Can someone teach it to me. Thanks.

I know the back cover is little tricky to remove. I faced it too. Fun to read that your 16GB SD card is still outside cuz you cant open the back cover. How did you insert your SIM then?

Anyways, try to pull the cover with your finger nails with force but without too much pressure. Like you pull a string in a guitar. Keep doing that and one of the times your cover will half open.

I cant seem to remove it anyhow. Also, the guy at the Sony showroom did the SIM and all. My SD card was at hom at the time so thats why its still out. I tried to open using the slit in the corner (top right) but I saw in an unboxing video that he opened from the top. This is frustrating me so much.

I know it is tough to open this cover. Better ask someone else to try it. Probably they could do it. I struggled the first time, but now have become expert in opening it. Anyways this cover is not made to open often

I did it from the side where there is a small gap for your fingernails !!

Finally learnt. Went to the Sony Showroom and learnt there. Can open it finally.

The phone is to be opened in steps.

1. Put your fingernail in the side slit to create a gap below the slit i.e. in the direction of the USB port.

2. While holding the gap slide your finger above the slit and put your nail in the curved top.

3. The curved top will open, then slide your finger to open the opposite top side.

4. Finally, slowly move your nail downward on the side which has the power button to open it too.

5. When everything is open loose, all you need to do is pull the cover down from below the phone.

Setting up phone for my mother. Very annoying to not be able to open back cover. Surely Sony could think of a better system! About to order a new phone for myself today. Will not be ordering a Sony!

Worst Experience while opening the back panel of Xperia L.... Broke my Two Finger Nails and its still hurting. After a long Struggle now i am successfully able to open it. The Best Back Panel to open was Samasung Galaxy S2..

Thank you so much for your guidance on removing the back panel DeepanshKhurana I received a Xperia L for Christmas and three of us could not remove the back panel but as I followed your instructions we had success. Thank you very much. I think Sony should put your instructions in every mobile phone box.

I have looked at the replies that have been posed in relation to this problem, but I have put a screen protector on my phone and am having real difficulty. I cannot seem to find the gap to try to release the back cover with my fingernails, do I need to remove the screen protector to take the back of my L1 ? Thanks for any help you can offer
