Mobile data not working and Access Point Name settings are not available

I have no mobile data, not even the little up and down arrows or letters next to the sims signal bars show up.

I have tried all the troubleshooting and different settings for prefered network type, airplane mode is off, mobile data is on with no limits, no power saving modes are on. Phone is dual sim so I have tried on both sims and tried disabling the other sim and changing the sim slots, both sims are loaded with data credit that works in other android devices. Wifi works fine. Factory reset does not help.

There is only one trouble shooting thing I can't try. When I select settings > more > mobile networks > access point names it says

"Access Point Name settings are not available for this user"

Perhaps if I could set APN I could get mobile data. How can I do that or how can I try to get mobile data to work?

Phone is Xperia M4 Aqua E2363 with build 26.1.B.2.102 Thanks if you can help

This text is a bit misleading which is something i have forwarded internally as feedback.

If you don't have any APNs stored the phone will display the text "Access Point Name settings are not available for this user" even though you are using the owner account and have access to the settings.

Try downloading automatic settings from Settings -> More -> Internet settings and see if that helps.

I'm having the same problem as Bitedge but my phone (z3 compact) can't download the Internet and mms settings. Error message reads: "could not download.tap here to try again" (using WiFi to download). I have tried factory resets. Still won't work. I saw only briefly the H and H+ signs next to the signal indicator and then mobile data worked (for a minute).

So, if cannot download internet settings you still can enter them manually. You need to enter APN and will have mobile internet. Just check what to enter with your local mobile operator.

My 3g Netwrk is not coming in wcdma mode
But in GSM mode 2g Netwrk is coming
I want a solution for these pls
I am realy tierd of these problem.

I had this problem when moving my Xperia Z3 from Tmobile to ATT.

I solved it by hitting the "+" sign at the top of the page. That opened up a page with all the fields to create an access name!

(I didn't have the "downloading automatic settings" in my Settings).

Thanks to ATT customer support for suggesting this and telling me how to fill it out . The settings can be found online at Program Correct Data Settings for Non-AT&T Devices - Wireless Support .

There was another problem--the rep said their software apparently thought the Z3 was not a 4G phone and automatically took that off my data plan. Something to check for.

I am having a similar problem with my Xperia. Have factory reset my phone, put sim in and still nothing. Says no sim card emergency calls only, yet sim works fine in my sisters s9. Went to mobile network settings and all the options come up grey fonted and unavailable. Please help..
