Xperia M2 touchscreen not responding

My new Xperia M2 is not responding from the touchscreen. The buttons on the side are working but touchscreen not reacting to anything.

I can't go through the sony Smartphone update service because i have to switch the phone off before running it and I can't switch off the phone without the touchscreen.

It's Sunday so struggling to get any technical support.

Any ideas?

Hold volume up and power for around 10 to 15 seconds or under one of the flaps you may find a small red reset button - Either of these will shut down your phone - Try restarting to see if the issue is resolved if not then contact Sony http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/ care or take it back to the place of purchase

I've done this and phone now won't switch back on and no light is showing when I plug it in to charge. It had plenty of battery on it. It seems to be completely dead.

I just repeated the restart process and it's come on and the touchscreen is working again. Thank you

If this happens to to others, I just took out my sim which turned my phone off ,then when I put it back in it worked again.

Tried this and it worked, but now my phone frequently gets stuck up and I have to repeat this operation again to re-start my phone.

I just wanted to add my thanks as well, this just happened to me and its at least 8months since the OP posted, so I wanted to let others know it still works.

I was only using my calculator, I've had to do resets recently because of the hassle with the andriod update and I thought it had crashed because of that, it might have but using the off/volume up button solution (11 secs to switch off on mine), it automatically restarted and the swipe screen was working.

Its working...just press power and volume button for few seconds and it will restart...its done....

Hi ,I have a Sony Experia Aqua M2 and ever since i performed a new update on update centre ,the touch screen does not respond .

When u receive calls the screen is blank and do not respond ,When it is not in use during your sleep , the reset button does not switch screen back on .I have to then do a reboot every day to activate which takes quite a long time ,is there a work around

I have been checking on the website and this phone seems quite problamatic.
