Before installing 4.3 I took a back up through backup and restore. Unfortunately while restoring the data I'm getting error like incompatible software version. Please help me to restore my contacts and messages.

Sorry to say this but you can't restore your contacts unless you downgrade, you won't be able to access those files.

I'm not sure that it will work, there's only one way to find out, you could transfer the file and see if it does work

also, have you synced your contacts with Gmail?

Fortunately yes. I can get the contacts but not my IMPORTANT messages.
