Problems after upgrading to 4.0.2.A.0.58 (Xperia Pro MK16i Androidv.2.3.4)

Hi to all!

After upgrading my phone to the latest software update, I noticed a couple of issues regarding compatibility with my previously installed apps.

(Meaning compatibility from the default installed software out-of-the-box)

Android Market app is now incompatible =(
YouTube app no longer compatible
Problems with WiFi connectivity -- it now constantly disconnects. It's kinda irritating that you always have to go to Wireless & Networks settings and reconnect again
Change on the screen lock patten: I think this is an update to the previous one. With the software update, you can no longer see the path of the lock pattern that you input. I guess it a security feature that I'm just not yet used to 😐

I'm still checking other incompatibilities with my apps after upgrading the software build. I tried restoring to factory defaults but it still won't revert to the default software build.

the Android Market app no longer works -- meaning i have to connect via browser everytime I needed to access/download apps.

The same is true with the YouTube app.

I haven't had any issues with those before, until I updated the software =(

And what really annoys me after the update is that WiFi connectivity now automatically disconnects if I left my phone on idle. That I always have to go to Settings > Wireless & Networks > Wi-fi settings just to have it activated again. Before I never had issues with my Wifi connectivity even if I leave my phone idle while downloading apps. I really wish I could revert the software back to default where I don't have these issues

the first thing I would do is to run PCC or Update Service to repair it once more

you can try this

settings -> applications -> manage applications -> market -> clear everything

same for youtube

btw does this happen when you are using your data plan or your wifi?

also go to settings -> wireless & networks -> wifi settings -> press MENU -> advanced -> wifi sleep policy -> NEVER

How to install it

You need to

go to settings -> applications -> check unknown sources

download IO File Manager

download the backup & restore app, transfer it to your SD card, use OI file manager to find it -> tap on it -> install it

Contacts

just to play it safe sync your contacts w/ google if you haven't already

open your phonebook

press MENU button -> tap on Send Contacts -> select all -> send it to your email

on your computer

-> download the file -> go to your gmail -> click on contacts -> click on more actions -> on the drop down menu click on "import" -> choose the file -> and click import

SMS/MMS

if you don't want to use the backup & restore app then

Install "backup SMS" to back up your SMS and MMS to your Gmail

Don't worry so much about backing up your apps

on your computer go to

market.android.com -> log in -> click on My Library -> and send all your apps to your phone

if you have a lot of sms/mms the backup & restore will take forever or might not backthem up corectly

both apps above Backup SMS + and backup & restore SMS are great, this last one it's really fast

let me make it simpler

download the apk on your computer, send it to yourself through email, make sure you send it to your Gmail

now on your phone

go to settings -> applications -> check unknown sources

wait for the email, once you get the email, open it, and instead of downloading the attachment it will allow you to install it, voila, done

for the unlock pattern go to

settings -> location & security -> set it up then you should be able to see that it says

Use visible pattern (make sure its selected)

I just had it repaired -- though i wasn't able to perform a backup. Anyway, I just had to re-sync again.
