FATAL Ray Problem After ICS 4.0.4 update

i don't know how to explain this... but

i had .42

then .62

then 4.0.3

all with the usual problems/bugs everone had...

but... after 4.0.4 update, a big problem appeared...

whenever the screen is ON, and i leave it idle till the light fades, then it goes OFF.. right?
if i press ANY key instantly after it goes OFF, it goes back ON

if i am late 1-2 seconds, it turns back ON to a BLANK BLACK screen (like the one when you turn the phone ON and there's no logo yet)

no whatever i do it stays BLACK...

if i press the above lockscreen button, it turns OFF, i press again, BLACK again...

i have only ONE SOLUTION
leave the phone for 30 seconds minimum...

then when i press any key, it gives me the lockscreen screen...

now what sucks even more...

i tird reverting back to .42

and the problem persists ... so i guess 4.0.4 caused some hardware screen issue !!!

i guess i'm stuck here...

no other way but to get the time to give it to the service center...

which i KNOW will be the hardest time EVER, knowing that i am a fulltime doctor and they are fulltime employees trying to avoid fixing, paying or even diagnosing any problem and always blaming it on the customer... (just as any other service center in Egypt)

This may cause some external application. Try a factory reset. Before the backup.

i did a WHOLE firmware repair from PCC

then a factory reset...

i'm pretty sure now that it's a hardware issue

The videos are not factory applications.

To repair Sony PC Companion.

If the problem is not corrected then it will be hardware problem, you must visit the service center.

yes, cause when i repaired it, the problem persisted ... i tested it with the 1st wizard that comes when you install ICS...

so - hopelesly - i continued installing my apps as i need to USE the phone...

it IS a hardware problem

btw, i'm not a noob or an average user, i have 2 other android phones (Xperia X8 and Motorola Fire XT)
both rooted and X8 with a custom ROM

but MY RAY was NOT... it was STOCK all along the way

now this is strange...

i've just come home from a long shift at the hospital, durin which is used the phone 4-5 times to make calls (and the problem occured once)

now i'm sitting (quite good temperatue, phone has been idle for several hours)
and i CAN'T REPRODUCE IT

now i KNOW that when i put the charger ON and it gets HOT while charging, the problem will come back...

huh ?!

it IS an overheating issue...

once i started using the phone for a few minutes, then put the charger, it was INSTANTLY reproducable !!!

and after finishing charging, and leaving it for a while to COOL OFF, it was UNreproducable again...

After what i did with (unlock boot loader with this method ) it is working perfect i didn't flash other Rom or any other any thing .... i don't know what happen but it's working

man ,there's NO WAY i'm gonna UNLOCK my bootloader...

that would void my warrenty forever...

i mean rooting can sometimes be undone... plus, unlocking bootloader seems like a process that could cause some real hardware issues... unlike just simple rooting ...

and BTW, how can unlocking bootloader remove a HARDWARE OVERHEATING issue ???
are you sure you can't reproduce the problem now ???
maybe you're just not letting it HEAT enough time ???
try playing a heavy game for 10 miutes before testing like in my video...

so i gave it to the service center...

if all ends well (and by "well" i mean : they ADMIT that the phone has a hardware damage that NEEDS repair or replacement or whatever, and the phone is given to me 100% working) i intend to sell it for whatever price i can get and also my wife's Xperia X8 and get 2 new Samsungs (it has much better support in Egypt)

it was a big mistake to think that Sony/Ericsson could provide a better hardware/support than Samsung.

i've always been a Nokia user (for 10 years / 5 different Nokias) and it was a difficult step to move "up" to SE, but apparently i moved "down" when it came to RELIABILITY !!!
i never had to repair a Nokia... nothing could happen that a good RESTORE FACTORY SETTINGS wouldn't fix... and a software reinstall in the most severe cases.

so, Goodbye Sony... Never Coming Back !

well, it ended WELL

they admitted the hardware issue (they said it's a motherboard failure)

they replaced the phone (well they gave me my old battery & backcover) because their policy says they only replace the WHOLE phone with the box in the 1st 14 days of purchase.

so everyone having this issue

IT IS A HARDWARE ISSUE, PHONE MUST BE REPLACED !!! NOT FIXABLE !!!!
