Xperia P no function - black screen

My Xperia P is 12 hours old. I have made a few calls and added a couple of apps.

I went to upgrade to ICS but the PC companion froze at the point where the phone needed to reboot with 50% battery.

Since then I have a black (backlit) screen. No other function.

I can reboot with [power]+[vol up] but it reboots back to the same black screen in about 1 second.

I can force a power off with [power]+[vol up] held until I get 3 vibrations. Same black screen when I power back on.

Any suggestions before I take it back to be replaced?

Turn off your phone, hold Volume Up and connect the USB cable to the computer. If the LED light turn blue that means the phone is now on Fastboot mode. chk if dat is working

Got it working.

Hold down power and up. Wait for the single vibration, keep holding until you get the 3 vibrations and the handset will power off.

Plug it into the computer and run the upgrade process with it turned off (ignoring the instructions to turn it on again).

I'm now happily running ICS.

Can you help my step by step because i don't speak english very well?? I have the same problem and i don't know what can i do :smileysad:( i'm unfortunate

For the phone to turn off,you need to press power button+volume up,until you feel the phone vibrating three times.Connect to your computer and upgrade with pc companion,following the steps provided there.

my phone's screen stopped working though the touch is working i can answer calls and unlock my phone because i memorize the pattern but the screen is black, i tried connecting it to the compuster but it wont detect it , (xperia P) please help me

Download sony update service,charge your phone above 60%(at least),repair phone software.

My Xperia P is 05 months old, 02 days back my phone's battery ran out of power, after that I have charged my phone with wall charger for almost 03 hours and tried to force reboot by holding power+volume up buttons simultaneously till it vibrated for 01 time, but the problem was not resolved, after that again i force shut down the phone by holding power+volume up buttons till it vibrated 03 times and charged it with wall charger for whole night and in the morning i have tried to power on the phone normally, phone started and after 30 secs the screen went black and after that I have reinstalled the OS using SUS after reinstallation the phone started and again after 30 secs the screen went black again, but still am getting calls, and able to attend calls. please suggest how to rectify the problem.

I too am facing the same issue, just a few minutes ago my phone was working absolutly f ine. Apart from the lag I was facing since last 2-3 days. Till few minutes ago everything else was working fine. But, all of a sudden, The display won't light up, neither screen nor menu bar or charging indicators. But, still, touch is working fine, I can receive calls and talk normally.

If any of you got a solution for this situation. I need your help.

Dear Rahual,

I have faced the same exact issue with my Xperia P two months ago, just leave the miobile idle for 3 days remove the sim card and shut down the phone, after 03 days charge the mobile will wall charger for atleast 03 hrs and perfrom the force bootup by holding power buttion and volume up buttons together for 5 to 10 seconds, mobile will vibrate thrice, and it will work normally for sure, after for safe being safe side update the OS............
