Xperia Go gets Crack and scratch on its screen

Hi Sony Support

Greetings for the day.

I had seen the promos and advertisement of Sony xperia go, I specially want to quote "The first number refers to protection against solid objects; the second refers to protection against liquids"(as mentioned on Sony India website against Sony Xperia Go), which made my decision to purchase xperia go one month ago(from Paragon Udaipur, Inv. No: 12/11014).

Unfortunately my handset dropped from study table (Height 2.5 feet), and phone glass cracked. I had contacted the Sony regional customer care, they told me it would not cover under warrenty. Product does not even fulfil its feature SHATTER PROOF SCREEN & SCRACH RESISTENT.It am feeling being cheated.

I would request Sony to please look into this matter and provide me screen replacement.

i just bought the new sony phone xperia go and in just one drop out of my hand the phone screen has cracked nd realy awful damages,,, even if i want replace it with new one, we dont have sony support here in Iraq...so wat shoul i do with my phone now ?,,,help pliiiiiz !

Find someone who can fix it or buy a new phone from the same shop that you bought the first one from?

The warranty does not cover damage that you caused yourself, so you will have to pay for the repairs or a new phone yourself.

The first number refers to how resistant the phone is against dust and other particles get into the phone. It has nothing to do with how resistant the screen is.

"Shatter proof" means that if the glass breaks, the broken pieces will be held together instead of spreading everywhere. It does not mean that the screen can't break.

"Scratch resistant" means that the glass is more resistant to scratches than regular glass or plastic. It does not mean that the screen can't be scratched (all scratch resistant screens on the market can be easily scratched by a grain of sand, for example).

As far as I know there is no rating for how resistant the screen is. Terms like "scratch resistant" are carefully chosen marketing terms that mean nothing.

This means that if you scratch or break the screen, it is not covered by warranty and you have to pay for repairs or replacement yourself. This is true for all phones on the market, not just those made by Sony.

indeed scratch resistant it is NOT scratch proof nor shatter proof, I can't find anywhere on the sony site that says anything about shatter proof or scratch proof or even unbreakable screen, I've never seen an LCD+Digitizer that are unbreakable.

uliwooly and xperia support have said in subforum that it have layer of shatter proof steet then how a mobile craked its screen by dropping it to very small hight.If you see other mobiles which are not sports, if they dropped from a small distance then not crack then what is mean of "Sports Phone" or durable.

My other phone xperia sola was dropped at long hight then it's screen was not cracked, And a phone said durable which cracks easily ?????

I think that sony is hidding its fault by "words and spellings" only.For your kind information i am very old user of sony.I have every thing like tv., dvd, laptop,camera home thearter even everything.My many many friend teachers and classmates have bought sony only from suggest and ask by me.If they would know that my sport phone has broken its glass so easily and sony mobile make customers fool by "words" then what imprssion would be on customers like me, in future its condition will become like nokia as have in present.

anyway how cost will be it and after change glass(uncovering warrenty), would my phone be water resistant and like perchase time or it will dustfully and spoily ????? please answer

No man it is not shatter and not unbreackable there is no word in sony white paper says that it is shatter proof and unbreakable but it is water resistance and scratch resistance more than any other phone,yesterday a motorcycle hit me when I was listening to music and the phone slide on the road 2m and no scratch at all that makes me love the xperia go more and more and the SAMSUNG crap in these videos doesnt have the specification of xperia go interms of hardware and its the same price.no sony didnt fool you and next time read carefully because i was like you,i beleive that the xperia go has the power of xperia active,but theni asked and they tell me the xperia active is the strongest phone in the world and the go mix the good and hardware and ruggedness in one device.

Thank you for reply now i have know that xperia go is somthing weaker than all sports like or ip 67 like phones but your kind information, xperia go is most expensive than all of them.And sony is advertizing so highly that "made to resistant" "durable" or anything on youtube and phone is so weaker than they are showing off.I was already knew that sony have all by pass of my words.I have no threw on wall or any kind of cruel behaviour this is so general, every phone drops even one time but no phone i have cracked its screen.I think it is weakest ip67 phone ever i have used before. see this links that sony showing off too mauch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sx5n6gPeYs, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swNtsX3jkWk what is it mean ?.I am feeling so insulted

The reality is that you were just unlucky. I've dropped the Go several times with no damage. But like all phones with hardened screens (including Galaxy Xcover and Defy), it will break under the right conditions. All three phones scratch easily. The scratch test you link to is stupid. Keys are made of soft metal and even regular glass can withstand that. Sand on other hand can scratch any phone on the market.

U better know what is IP certification is,please dont talk about anything u dont know about this make u look like a fool (no offense),and no the xperia go is the cheapest rugged phone in the market name one device that has the same specification as the xperia go and I will buy it right know (dont throw words just read the white paper of it and compare it to another one proccessors...)and it is the strongest phone in the rugged category after the xperia active,please google everything u dont before u talk,I just slide my xperia go yesterday 2 meter on the road and no scratches at all..

Ok You already know that when samsung xcover launched at 2011 various brands launched their equavlant phone like defy plus or xperia active etc they have almost same specification at that time.

This time is a time when consumer need a high processor or high ram and compition also goes for high then what need to say about specification.At 2013 the comption will between quad core, hexa core or somthing for 2.5ghz processors

Look let me tell you the simple equation about warranty,everything the company tell you literally is under the warranty the company didnt tell you shater or shock proof even the xperia active the company didnt say anything about shock and shatter proof they said that has some strength however the people try to test them but not the company who test them on you and tell u shatter proof or anything.ANd ur beloved samsung they didnt mention anything about shatter proof,this an accident man u r responsible of accidents because SONY didnt tell you that and if it did tell me where so we can sue the company tell me where in its website and I will sue her right now for its lying,please be realistic next time....

If u take it to a SONY repaire center it will be like purchase time just take it to a sony repaire center and they will be responsible if it will spoil but there is a cost u will pay for repairing it..
