Sony Ericsson W715 won't turn on completely

Today I noticed a bug with my phone, the silent mode was turning itself off instantly when I was trying to activate it, so I decided to restart the phone. But, I couldn't turn it back on. When I try, it vibrates once and the lights from the buttons turn on, they stay like that for around 5-10 seconds, and then they just turn off. The phone doesn't do anything else, and If I try to turn it on again, it doesn't even light up anything. No red light no anything.
IF I take the battery out, put it back, and then try to turn it on again - I get the same 5-10 seconds of buttons lights for the first time, and then nothing. It follows exactly the same scenario when I try to charge it, with the charger and with the USB cable, with or without the sim and the memory card. Is there like a way to reset it or something? What could be the problem? I don't have another battery at the moment.

If that helps in any way, with the charger, if I don't let it connected to the phone for those 10 seconds, I can light up the buttons for multimple times, but, If I wait till in turns off by itself, it won't light up again untill I re-put the batery...just saying.

I first suggest going down the path of performing a software update on the handset as this may resolve the issue. Please use the link below to download the appropriate software to achieve this task.

Thanks, it did work. Although it's still installing something...but it turned on, so I guess it will work.

Dear Jake,

My SE W715 shows exactly this same behaviour. I tried the link you provided to the other W715 user for software upgrading but I didn't find my phone model listed there. Could you help me with a link to a page still offering W715 software? My phon'e language is Catalan, and I would like to keep it so, if possible.

By the way, is it possible to do a harware reset of the phone? As it doen't power up, I wonder if this procedure could "reanimate" it.

Hi Daniel, you could try flashing it with software from this site. There are a number of firmware versions for your phone (beneath the picture of the phone) so click on these to find out which one you need according to your language requirements etc.
