Transfer of App from Phone Memory to SD Car

Hi,

I have just bought Sony Xperia SP in India.

I have installed few apps and games on the phone.

I wish to transfer these apps and games on SD card however there is no provision of moving the same from Phone memory to SD card. The only option I could see was transfer to photos/ music & Videos.

Could you please suggest any option for moving the games & apps from Phone's Internal memory to SD card (a feature which is available in Xperia Neo).

I tried using few apps available on play store like App2SD etc however I was unable to move the games & apps to SD card.

Would appreciate your solution on the above.

I think it's an android limitation. Jelly bean doesn't allow apps to be transfered to sd card.

This has to do with your phone having a builtin memory which works as a internal storage/SD card. In this case you can't move apps to the external SD-card. You can read more about this here: http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/406527.

i have sd card in my phone but i still can't transfer it to sd card. there's no option.

what does this mean check the storage section.

As i understand it the /data and /sdcard partitions are linked in Xperia SP so basically all apps you install are on the internal storage (phones internal "SD card"). You use the same space for both apps and other files so you don't have any option to move the app.

But depending on what you have you may be able to move apps in JB, if you compare with Xperia TX which also has JB you would have a button for moving the app to the internal storage next to Clear data as /data and /sdcard are not linked in TX.

The "App on internal storage" doesn't really mean anything here as device memory and internal storage is the same.

Moving an app to an external SD card is only possible in phones that doesn't have any builtin SD card/internal storage.

It's not possible to save apps on the SD card in your Xperia SP. But some apps have settings where you can store the data. In that case you should be able to chose that the app data will be stored on the SD card. So it depends on the app.

hi i've bought xperia sp. last week & i am pretty much impressed by its design & powerful gpu... but i m disappointed to know that even though it is 32 gb expandable. wt is the point if u cant move to applications into it... 8 gb internal space is too low for an hd phone

Moving applications to SD card is not directly supported in latest versions of Android. While developing an applications developers must explicitly define whether the application can be moved to SD card or not. Unfortunately most of the popular applications do not support this. This is not an Xperia related issue. I have heard that rooting can help you in moving apps to sd card. I am not sure about this and rooting will void your warranty.

I'm loving my new SP ... BUT... Sony, could you please add allowing movement of apps to the external SD as part of your development schedule? 8GB internal flash is actually quite limiting. I've not got that many apps installed and I'm over 75% usage. My previous android devices have allowed movement of some or all the app files to external SD - why not this phone?

Also - there seems to be an issue accessing the external SD on occasion (this seems to happen if you try to take a photo without allowing the phone time to wake up properly - it happens on my partners Xperia P as well).

If we cant move apps to SD , then u sould built phones with 32GB internal storage.

Samsung already rolls out its update for this feature

since u roll out your update, i switch back to my old Samsung SII phone.
