Weird noise coming from AC charger.

Xperia SP C5302

Is it just mine or everyone's charger making weird sound when plugged into AC wall unit? Not big one but if you go closer to the charger, you'll hear some kind of strange noise like somethings burning.

There might be a loose connection for your socket, nothing with your charger...

Try another socket ...

Most likely if noise comes from charger is a power supply issue not a wall socket problem

Checked on other power sockets. Even when I remove the charger from socket, that noise remains for couple of seconds (at least for 10-12 seconds). One more thing just came into my attention, charger heats a lot I guess. Is it normal?

It's a charger that is broken. Contact sony to replace it

I replaced a lot of notebook chargers for this issue that is caused by faulty capacitors

Don't use this charger now, connect phone to a pc to charge battery

Anyway all power supplies heat during use, this is normal

This is absolutely normal for a charger to make such quiet noises. If it gets too loud, you have a problem.

Now I am confused.

Please I request someone who owns XSP to check the above problem and verify if its just me or all XSP chargers makes noise.

That is not normal; I have tried to replicate this on a number of chargers and cannot do so. Please cease charging the phone and return both the phone and charger so that it may be assessed by an authorised repair agent.

What are your thoughts about this forum? Let us know by doing this short survey.

SAM: maybe you should try one more time, but with bigger number of chargers.... My phone (C5303) is two weeks 'old' and my charger is making this quiet hissing/buzzing sound right from the beginning. I guess it is because of AC/DC transformation and it's nothing to worry about.

I had different notebooks, tablets, and smartphone and I tested for work a lot of them

No one made noise during use

At the same time all the noisy power supplies stopped to work after few charges

I got it replaced. But, even new one makes noise (very very minor).

Mine does this noise too. I tried on other places not just home, it does this little buzzy noise for some minutes, than it stops.

I have the Sony Xperia E and when I charge my phone it makes a buzzing noise which I can only hear if I put my ear to it. I ordered a new one and it does exactly the same thing. I charged my phone using the USB cord plugged into laptop but it takes hours to charge and I need my phone due to having children in school. I've tried charger in all sockets in my house and it does it in every single one. Will it still be ok to use as it chargers phone fine.

Given the nature of the problem I would advise contacting your local Xperia Care team regarding having an assessment arranged on your handset.
