Plz help me recovery important photo :(

This is the first time i use PC Companion and Xperia U St25i, i get confused between File Manager and Xperia Transfer, i clicked Xperia Transfer -> Start. After that, i lost all my important photo, but contact, app are still on my phone.
I tried using some software to recovery like android data recovery, Wondershare Dr.Fone for Android, Recuva, but all software don't work with Media Transfer Protocol, i can't find USB Mass Storage on my phone.
How can i recovery my photo or connect my phone with USB Mass Storage without Root? Will Root phone erase all contact, app?
Please give me an advice soon.

I'm sorry to say this but you won't be able to recover pictures stored on the internal storage, you could go to

Internal storgage > DCIM > thumbnails > and look for the picture there

For future reference, I would suggest that you backup your pictures and videos periodically with perhaps Google plus
