Xperia Z Doesn't Recognize That Earphones are Unplugged

My issue started when I was using the earphones and received a call on Viber. This happens a lot but this time it's not being fixed. After that, I cannot hear anything through the ear speaker, not all apps notifications can be heard through the loudspeaker: in example: sms yes Gmail yes whatsapp no Viber no.
Music is not played through the loudspeaker. Calls are only heard through loudspeaker. Earphones work always. Seems that the phone is confused and thinks that the earphones are still plugged. I reinstalled. The phone software through PC companion repair, still the same. Appreciate. Some thoughts from the xperia staff. Thanks.
Xperia Z C6602
Android 4.3

No, it was a clean format, did not restore anything, even contacts. I can confirm now the problem is that the phone is not detecting that the earphones are unplugged. I noticed that since the FM radio app works without anything plugged, just gives static noise when plating through the loudspeaker.

Sorry for the late reply. Please check if there is anything in the headphone jack such as dust etc. If there is not then please try this : Main Menu > Settings > Apps > Smart Connect > Clear Data. if you still have no luck then you will need to speak directly with your local Xperia Care team so that a repair may be arranged.

To be honest this is only one of a number of possibilities, however if any force was applied to the headset whilst it was connected to the phone this could lead to damaging the headphone jack.

Took the phone to local Sony maintenance, the headphone jack was damaged as stated. Had to replace to headphone jack for 40$ and the phone is no longer waterproof.

To tell you the truth, i prefer my Xperia Z as non-waterproof. The sound volume on the loundspeaker is WAY BETTER now.

My issue was resolved today. Thanks to the sony customer rep.. I was advised to go to Settings> App> All> Smart connect> clear data> force stop. Then restart the phone after 5 secs. Connect the earphone and it will work! Thank God

If cleaning the port didn't solve it, you have to replace the headphone jack port. I replaced it at a local shop for 20$
