I've tried to restart the device in safety mode first and the clock application seemed to work well, so I thought a third party app (either Avast or Memory Reboot Pro) had interfered with it, as you said. However, after leaving safety mode I had no issues with the clock application (when adding a new time zone in world clock) either, even with Avast antivirus and Memory Reboot Pro still installed and engaged.

So, I have no idea, what was going on, but thanks a lot for your help!

A few days ago I noticed that my default clock application crashed on my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact (model D5803, Android Build 23.0.A.2.98). The app keeped crashing, even after clearing RAM and restarting the device. Only after deleting the app files in the application settings the app seemed to work again. However, when trying to use world clock (adding a new time zone) the app crashes again. This problem did not happen on the previous software build. I want to avoid resetting the whole device, so if there's somebody out there with the same problem or any ideas, I'd be really grateful.

Perhaps its an app acting up, have you disabled any app or service? do you have any antivirus or taskillers?

I've disabled Lifelog and GMail. Furthermore, I'm using Avast antivirus and Memory Reboot Pro by 99estudio, which is set to ignore the clock application. None of them have ever caused any problems for me. 😕
