The best way is a matter of opinion - I have my way and others there own however I use a cloud storage for files or I transfer these to my Pc - Contacts either save to your Gmail account or create an export file and transfer this to your Pc for import later, Messages I don't bother with and apps I have my own way due to been rooted and having Titanium backup installed

There doesn't appear to be anything jammed in there.I've tried a couple of different sets of headphones including the originals provided with the device. Any ideas?

All we can suggest is that you either return your device to the place of purchase or contact Xperia care http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/

I use my Sony cloud. But I think with current events. I'll go down the solid state route.
