Two days ago, my phone (Z1) suddenly cracked. The crack is hairline and I am a very careful user. I need to know why this happened and if I can get it fixed in my country, Nigeria. I need urgent answers...Besides, has anyone ever experienced this? I read on the net that so many users have encountered this sort of thing with their Xperia Z. Thanks.

Thanks. Unfortunately there isn't a local support team as I have checked. I'm really helpless on what to do next. Thinking perhaps the phone is a lost cause. It will be helpful to know if anyone ever had this problem here please.

In that case you should contact the seller as they should be able to send in the phone to a repair center. This to rule out if the crack is covered by warranty.

Hello again. I got my screen changed. It cost me N25,000.00 (approximately $105) and it didn't take the repairer long to do it. I'm just not certain it is waterproof. And I am not so eager to test it. Anyway, I feel it would be nice to give an update. The phone works perfectly though.

That is good news......with regards to the phone still being wateproof after the screen being changed, unless the person who repaired the phone conducted a vacuum test on the phone there is no sure fire way to know. In my opinion it would not be worth the risk of inflicting serious damage by testing it underwater, you could however get in touch with the repairer & ask & enquire about any form of guarantee if things did go wrong :smileysmileywink:

You could trawl thru the internet or thru the Sony forum & see a myriad of 'reasons' or 'hypothesis' of the reasons......& not only Sony phones, all manufacturers.......but mostly the newer, larger, thinner style of phones.....

I have the same problem. I had my phone in a protective case, never dropped it or did anything that could cause a crack. When I was charging my phone the other day it got really hot so I took it out of the case and noticed the crack. I took it out of the case some time before charging and the crack wasn't there. The phone was at my desk for the most of the day so I have no idea why and how the crack appeared I am really upset because I only bought the phone because it was waterproof
