The sound in Xperia Z3 Compact, with the update to lollipop has been drastically reduced. I did a repair with pc companion, but i couldn't hear the same volume as when i was using Kitkat on my z3. In addition to that, with the repair, my battery started to deplet very fast and was heating even if the phone wasn't charging 41.3 degrees. So i did another repair, and fixed it. But the sound, is way low. It has 2 speakers and the Asus Zenfone 2 that has one speaker is way louder. I am hoping that with the next update, the sound to be fixed so i can enjoy my phone.

Hi @Arseniuandrei

Welcome to the community.

The first thing I would suggest with the speakers is checking to see if this is a potential hardware problem. To use Xperia Diagnostics:

Go to Settings > About phone > Diagnostics.

Tap Test device.

Select the Loudspeaker

Follow the on-screen instructions.

If it fails the test have a chat with your contact your Local support team as it will need to be serviced.

I did a test, and my loudspeakers are good. But surprisingly i found that the accelometer and the light sensor doesn't work. Although when i use adaptive brightness it works. But i have no ideea what the accelometer does. @uliwooly i answered to the wrong person, you can see it down.

Furthermore, sorry for double reply, but don't think that my speakers are sounding very low or something. They just don't sound as loud as when i had kitkat installed. I can surely remember that my screen was shaking a bit when i was using maximum volume and now it barely vibrates at maximum sound.

Yeah thanx, if we have one :)) i bought this phone from a website and it's imei is from Japan, it was meant for Asia, and in my town i have no Sony Center, only in Cluj there is one. I'm just hoping it's something from the update, because i dropped it only a few times, like 8 times, and from small distances, and it's true i,ve washed it cause it's waterproof. I will try cleaning all the dust, maybe it's from the dust that's blocking the sound

Hard to tell as you could have other apps running in the background, also whatsapp, facebook, chrome are battery hogs, so even if you think it's just whatsapp it use quite a bit of battery.

Is not a hardware fault.. If u look up the post months ago you will see almost everyone had the same speaker issue after update to 5.0.. Is so sad that sony just ignore the problem, dont tell me you cant hear the difference in kitkat and lolipop, if not sony team must be deaf.. They didn't even fix the problem in 5.1 update. Dont even try updating to 5.1, battery drain even bad. Thats what i heard from other users.. Im currently on 5.0. Last time volume set from 4-5 can be loud enough on youtube, now u have to go all the way up to 7-9.. oOo

I agree, i'm from the Netherlands and i tried calling the Sony Help center. Even though i told the representative multiple times that my sound was great, until the upgrade, they insisted that i had to sent the phone to them to get it fixed. Unfortunately, my screen had cracks, so i was afraid they would blame it on that problem, altough it was already there before the upgrade.

They made an error in the software and they are not recognizing or aknowlidging it. Very disapointing and irresponsible... Makes me think twice the next time i choose a new phone...
