Hello everyone,

My father bought himself this wonderfull device a week ago, however during this week the phone completely froze 2 times.
By saying completely I mean that the screen was black and everything except LED notification light stopped working. The only way revive the phone is to restart it by pressing volume up and power button. After restart battery stats show no data during the period the phone was frozen and battery drains way quicker at that time. This freeze happens in in mid call.
What might be causing this problem? Should I just send the phone to warranty?

Thanks for any help

By any chance, is there anything blocking or partially blocking the proximity sensor?

Nope it doesn't seem that anything is blocking the sensor.
I've probably should've noteted that the phone is in the original SCR42 case. Maybe NFC is causing problems?

I'm currently doing repair through Sony PCC.
The freeze happens very rarely once in 1-3 days so it's hard to test if the solution helps

Hi,

I have had a very similar problem. I made a post but sadly got no help. I reinstalled the os from the Sony PC software and it hasn't help. I also have not installed any additional software and the problem still occurs.

Basically I believe the issue is something to do with the sound. The first sign that it is going to freeze, crash and reboot is when I change the volume, it will start to lag. Then if I make/receive a call, use the You Tube app, use Google Play Music etc, the phone freezes and then it will reboot or it just freezes and I have to reboot it myself. You will see from the screen shot below I have had 26 reboots in the last few days and this does not include the times I have had to restart it myself! So there is something seriously wrong. I am going to return the phone on Monday.

For reference, my phone is a green Z5 (non compact).

My Z5 premium died at 2% battery while trying to take a picture. I was unable to start the phone, somehow the reset button worked once. My phone then booted, said SIM Card located and shut down. Since then ive not had an success restarting it. No lights no vibrations. After my initial sucessfull reset i charged to 70% percent and then loaded my sim, so the phone does have battery. Its not completely unresponsive.
