Search for contacts takes several minutes

When searching for contact it takes several minutes have approximatly 5000 contacts any ideas how to reslove it? the same apply from time to time when using the SMS?

well you just point out the reason why it takes so long to show your contacts or search for a contact.

try this

delete all your call logs, sms and mms, if you want to back them up, do so, either use the backup & restore or use

sms backup+ or another sms/call logs apps

if that doesn't work use another phonebook app.

Thanks for your advise but at the begining (a week ago) had the same number of contacts and it all was smooth? suddenly the all use of the devise seems to take ages...any advise?

you probably have way too many sms/mms and/or call logs, that do slow down your phone and/or phonebook/phone app.
