I use a pin code to open. With smart lock activated my home is accepted as a trusted location. But the phone is still locked both by time out and by pressing the power button. Unlocking has to be done by Pin code. The same occurs with my face. Accepted as trusted but not preventing locking nor unlocking

That's strange. Do you have any other smart lock features enabled?

how accurate its the GPS and do you have any taskillers or stamina mode on? how about a battery app or an antivirus?

I have tried with location and face separately ie isolated and combined. No other active smart (un)lockers. No stamina, no battery app that I know of. The antivirus is F-secure. I have stopped it. Same result.

Uninstall it > restart the phone > check again.

If that doesn't work, boot on >>> safe mode > test it again.

I should add that the GPS signal is not very good inside the house. But the phone locates the adress fairly accurately with or without the GPS feature. It may shift some 50 meters (address recognized) from time to time. My face however stays the same. And I have taken care to stay in the light where it was captured.

@tstrom Smart lock is a part of google play services. What you can also try is to clear data and cache for it, perhaps uninstall updates and update the services again..

Smart lock works better although somewhat irregularly,when several trusted locations are used,all measured within my home but resulting in slightly different adresses. Although the GPS signal may be very weak and varying inside the house this was unexpected since my router IP-adress is constant over long times. Why face recognition did not work is, and remains, an open question.

Thanks for the various suggestions to help out. I have learned a lot about my new phone in the process

@tstrom Does the front cam work fine? You could learn the face more than once, perhaps it will help (it takes a while to detect the face so you need to keep looking at the lockscreen until bottom icon shows it is unlocked).
