Hello, I have a problem with my new z5: it charges via USB cable etc but when I try to connect it to pc, it doesn't connect well. it comes on and off.. is this a hardware issue and do I need to get my phone replaced?

Hi,

Have you tried to connect the phone to different USB-ports? Or to another computer to see if same behaviour appear?

Hi,

since it was a new pc and other USB connections worked perfectly I never though problem.. could be with the pc.
I tryed it on another and it worked fine. So my xperia is fine. Thanks for the sppedy reply!

Glad to hear that! You can always check the device manager on your PC to see if the phone is detected, perhaps you need to update/reinstall the drivers. I also suggest that you install PC Companion on your computer and then connect the phone to see if it can be detected correctly.

i have tried different pc and usb cable but computers do not see my phone just say unknown usb. before i have used several times usb connection but suddenly it loss.

yes i have tried i install pc compenion again and againg but nothing changed :S

Maybe you could "play" with the "install software" switch under USB connectivity option.

Are you sure that USB port's pins are not broken or dirty? If you have an OTG cable you could try to read a thumb drive just to check if the port is fine.

If it is dirty you could try to clean the pins of the USB port with a contact cleaner, but be careful.
