Cannot read new messages

This is a strange one:

Sometimes, when I have multiple unread messages:

I read the first one ok. I can answer if I want.

When going back to the list on messages and trying to read the second message the first one appears, eventhough I see the contact name of the second contact.

When going back to the list of messages, the second message still shows as unread.

If I try reading it again, smae issue: I see the texts of the first message.

i am using the Messaging native app.

To clear this I need to close the messaging app. Only then can I access the other unread messages.

Which version of Android are you using?

If you are using 5.1.1/5.0.1 Lollipop ,then i think its a bug. I also faced it back then but nothing seemed to solve it(clear data/cache) other than closing the app itself and reopen it.

But in latest 6.0 M update,it looks like the bug has been addressed but only for three messages in a row. Havent tested it yet on four or more messages.
