Xperia Z USB port cover not seating properly?

I've had my Z for about a month now and one thing that really concerns me is that the waterproof cover for the USB port is really difficult to insert after charging. It was ok for the first week or so but now I have to try several times before it looks like it's seated properly. I'm concerned that as this port gets opened and closed more than the others it's developed a faulty cover and won't be water/dust proof when I need it to be.

Has anyone else noticed anything similar?

The logical way to close the USB flap is to slide your finger down the side of the phone from the top to the bottom. In other words, close the flap by pressing in first the edge with the connecting strip. If you do this, I've sometimes found the flap is not closed properly and may reopen by itself. If you close the flap by inserting the lower part first (the edge without the connecting strip) then it always closes properly.

I agree with drimiles, that's the proper way to close the flap from top to bottom, as for the dock it varies per country/network, but its a must with this phone.

I'm planning to buy the dock when you can actually find someone in the UK that has it in stock for a reasonable price. I bought a Casemate Tough case for my wife's Z (she tends to drop it...) but I suspect the phone won't fit in the dock with the case on the phone 😞

I think some parts of the world have received it with the phone, but not the UK. I'm planning to buy the Xperia tablet Z as well, and it's the same story for that - Japan get the dock, in Europe we have to buy it...

I just had a thought: anyone know if the Xperia Tablet Z dock would fit and charge the Xperia Z phone as well?

Thank you all for your helpful replies - I'm using the top down technique and it works great. Will invest in a dock next month - need a white one - lots of UK places are out of stock of all colours except black.

I got one off eBay. Not original but excellent product.

Can't use it with my case though.
