You might need to reset app preferences first. Go to settings - apps, tap on 3 dots and reset preferences. Sound picker should show up.

I have a z5. I want to put my own custome ringtone on it, and MP3 file.

I have transferred it to the ringtones directory, and to other directories also.

The custom ringtone does not appear as an option in the ringtone selection menu.

How to put a custom ringtone on this phone ?

In the past I put my personalised ringtone MP3 on my Samsug Galaxy in about 5 minutes flat. I guess this is the danger of buying a strange mobile phone rather than a standard one !!

Hi,

Thanks to both of for the help so far, but still no go.

This hallf fixed. It caused the "+" sign mentioned below to appear.

The problem is now it doesn't appear in the new program that opens up when you press "+", nor does it appear in the ring tone chooser. It's sitting there fat dumb and happy in the ringtones directory !!

Ok, so here is the thing... The android's default choice of ringtone format is usually "ogg" so as Xperia are famous for the mostly vanilla experience you cannot really use an mp3 as a ringtone however there are other ways to use an mp3 as ringtone... It's a very old app in the PlayStore, totally ad free: RingDroid.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ringdroid

This app allow you to select, crop, loop or simply convert every audio file in a.. Well, you got it: a ringtone.

Start the app, chose the file you want to convert, select the piece you are interested or the whole song and the tap the save button... Give it the time to process the file and then... Done! Go in the ringtone settings page, you'll see now all your ringtones waiting for you!
