Missing contact info

About half my contacts are missing its the sms contacts. I have checked the filters and turned them on and off. I have reset the phone, and I have tried clearing the cache and forcing the app to stop but still have no luck. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Also I can check my messages and the number comes up with the message but not the name from my contracts

Had the same problem but screen broke before I could try to fix it. Would also like to know why it happened

Hi @Dlust,

Welcome to the community.

If you open the contacts app, do you see all your contacts listed here? Are they only missing in your SMS app?

@Dlust,

Double check your filters in the Contacts app. (3 dots > Filters) Make sure you expand Local, Google, Skype etc and tick all the boxes in there.

You should also try resynching with Google. Go to Settings > Accounts > Google > 3 Dots > Sync All.

Thanks I did try resynching and checked and unchecked the boxes already, neither helped fix it.

This is very strange. The contacts that remain, are they saved to the local storage or to your google or other account?

The contacts that remain are the ones from google that were imported I think. Alot of them are just email addresses not phone numbers

Did you uninstall any apps or accounts recently that make use of the contacts? For example viber, whatsapp, skype etc?

Seems like a mystery... Can you please go to Settings > Users, and make sure you are under the admin profile?

I am afraid I am at a loss as to what has happened sorry It looks like your contacts are lost.
