Z1 chrome browser not working

Just bought a Z1 compact. I use chrome on all my devices but can't make it work on the Z1. When I type a query or address into the address line (eg "Wikipedia") and press "Go" on the keyboard, nothing happens - the screen stays blank/white with the address bar at the top. There is no refresh option - only an X - and no menu available.

I tried clearing the chrome cache but that made no difference. Any suggestions please?

whenever you type something on the address bar you should be able to see Go or a check mark on the keyboard (bottom right side)

Thanks Uli. As I said, I press "Go" on the keyboard - that is the only executing option that I have, nothing else appears - but I get no result.
