NEX-5R data transfer to smartphone

Dear Sony,

I've just bought Sony NEX-5R and already installed all softwares and application on the camera and Iphone as recommended by user manual. My problem is that I can not transfer photo in the camera to my Iphone. It keeps displaying 'sharing' on camera screen for a long time without successful data upload. Please advise what should I do to have this function complete.

Hi Chanutaporn, welcome to the Sony Forums

This sounds like a network issue. Is your iPhone connected and functioning normally via wifi?

There may be some network settings to make in the app preferences. If there's no prefs pane in the app, have a look in the iPhone Settings.

Let me know how you get on, although I have to say this forum may not be the best one for network troubleshooting; maybe worth asking about this on a Mac/iPhone forum

Sounds like you are not changing your iPhone's wi-fi connection from your home wi-fi to the camera?

At the point where the NEX displays the password you have to go to settings > wi-fi on your iPhone and select the wi-fi connection to your camera. Then go to the iPhone Sony app.

Thanks, works with the Playmemories app perfectly. Shame that it isn't in the handbook?!

I have the same problem connecting a NEX-5R to an Android phone.

How do I get the NEX-5R to display a password and open a wifi connection to the phone?
