Dear All,

I have a question regarding Sony Bravia TV. I wish to stream live video from the BBC website on my TV, for example when there is live sport on the BBC website but it is not being shown on TV, as will be the case for the Olympics (don't worry, I have a TV liscene so am entitled to do this).

I have been researching methods to do this and there seems to be two possible options;

1) Connect my TV to the internet using an Ethernet cable. This will enable me to access Sony Internet TV. This is my preferred option but will it allow me to stream from the BBC's website. I understand I will be able to acces iPlayer, but would like to know whether it will allow to to stream directly from a BBC webpage, eg from their Sport page.

2) Connect my TV to a computer using an HDMI cable. As I understand it, this should just mean I can use the TV as another screen for my computer, thus allowing me to display anything from the internet on the TV screen. This is my least preferred option, as it means my computer will be tied up streaming content, so no one else in the house will be able to use it.

Im summary, I would like to know whether connecting my TV to the internet, using an ethernet cable, will allow me to stream live sport from the BBC website? I would like to find out about these options now, before I start buying expensive cables.

Thanks in advance

Message was edited by: -Cass-

Personal details removed

PS, my Bravia TV is a KDL-32W5710. Does this model even have Sony Internet TV functionality? I can't fing any information suggesting whether it does or not.

I'd go with option 2, (Connect my TV to a computer using an HDMI cable.)

If you can spare a few pounds, get a dedicated tv computer and turn it into a Media center.

Then i'd install XBMC, which is the absolutely best mediaplayer on the market (freeware)

http://xbmc.org/download/

To get the BBC channels, install the XOT plugin which can be found here:

http://www.rieter.net/pages/XOT:Uzg

With this plugin you can readily watch

British Channels

BBC One (iPlayer, UK only)

BBC Two (iPlayer, UK only)

BBC Three (iPlayer, UK only)

BBC Four (iPlayer, UK only)

CBBC (iPlayer, UK only)

CBeebies (iPlayer, UK only)

BBC HD (iPlayer, UK only)

BBC News Channel (iPlayer, UK only)

BBC Parliament (iPlayer, UK only)

BBC Alba (iPlayer, UK only)

Here's another iPlayer plugin:

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=51322
