STR-DN 1050 menu issue

My menu has started showing what appears to be Japanese writing on several menus and not all the graphics display correctly. I've tried a few factory resets which seems to have reduced the severity of the problem but not cured it.

Has anyone else come across this and if so, did you manage to solve and how?
