I am having problems with playing Dvd's as there are just making a horrible whirling noise. Any suggestions would be grateful, thanks.

Hey @jackfitz1, try to reset the system as described in the device manual here: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/4446/a7795ccb4ca06c8cb09e18ec54ae4da3/44467341M.pdf (Page 52), also check the suggested troubleshooting steps on page 58

Thanks for your advice it actually worked. Now I have problem with sync when playing blu ray dvds and also an annoying buzzing noise when the player is on, this has actually been happening since new so any more advice would be appreciated.

Hey @jackfitz1 try to adjust the AV sync by following the steps in page 37 here. Regarding the noise, try to move the move your audio equipment away from the TV and clean the disc. I hope this helps.
