It's been some time but the new firmware update for my KD-XG9005 to Android Pie has fixed the soundbar issue for me. Switches on and off with the TV perfectly now. Hope others have had similar positive experiences with the update. It's not automatically updating older TVs yet but you can do it via USB from the Sony support site.
