Connecting Sony KD-55XD8505 to Bluesound Node over HDMI ARC doesn't work

Hi all,

Not sure I am at the right board, but anyway I need to try

So, I have as above KD-55XD8505 and Bluesound Node and I want to connect my TV with the Node over HDMI ARC connection in order to get the sound from the TV through my HIFI system.

It shouldn't be a big deal, but it looks like I am missing something on the settings of the TV.

I have managed to get the sound through my HIFI system only once, but as soon as I turn off the TV this connection is lost. As if the TV did not save the settings.

Obviously there has to be a discussion about the proper settings on the TV, but first I would like to know is there anyone out there who has a similar setup, so that we can talk about it

Thank you in advance,

Regards,

Brks

Hi, Did you toggle on the bravia sync settings so that your TV and any external devices would sync?

Also, you need to make sure that audio out is set to "PCM", you might wanna check this link:

https://helpguide.sony.net/tv/caep1/v1/en/04-04_01.html?hl=ARC

As well, this might be a software glitch so make sure that you're on the latest one through the help menu on the TV, You can access it by pressing on the help button on the remote.

Hey, thank you for your input:)

Anyway, Bravia Sync is enabled, so that's fine.

However, I don't have an option for audio out to set it to PCM. Under sound/speakers I can only choose between TV speakers and audio system.

Actually I managed to get the sound through my HIFI system, but after I turn off the TV the settings are lost and I have to do it all over again every time.

It looks like I am missing something under TV settings, but not sure what.

Hey bbrks011, switch the HiFi to HDMI ARC and the other device to any other port. Let me know if that made any difference.

Not sure I understand....TV HDMI ARC is connected to Bluesound NODE ARC with HDMI cable.

That is the only connection needed.

I forgot to mention something very strange.

As I said above, under sound settings on the TV I have only two options, TV speakers and Audio system.

So, when I plug in HDMI cable TV changes the setting to Audio system, which should be fine I guess. But there is no sound coming to my HIFI over Bluesound node. Only when I set the sound back to TV speakers sound is there.

I could imagine that some software update to the TV would solve this, but unfortunately my TV is already 6 years old and is stuck on Android 7.0 version.

Hey bbrks011, what's the current software version of the TV? You can get it from the Help menu.

Android version 7.0 if that is what you mean.

Seriously Sony experts, is this really so complicated to solve.

If it is just because old Android  version on my TV, please tell me to give it up.

But the fact is I get the sound on my HIFI from TV channels but when I try to do the same from Netflix or HBO MAX, apps which are installed on the TV, there is no way to get the sound to my HIFI.

Can you please give me some idea, what else to try.

Thank you.

@ bbrks011, this is a user based community where we help each other. If you want Sony expert contact Sony.

BTW, what you provided isn't the software version. Press Help on the remote to get it.
