Can't open Contacts

Hi @deep-downer, welcome to our forum and I'm sorry to hear about this. Slightly_frowning_Face

When you are trying to open up the Contacts application, are there any error messages?

I'd recommend that you try and clear data for the Contacts application and see if you are able to open it up again after doing that. To clear the data, go to Settings > Apps > Contacts > Storage > Clear data.

This will not remove any contacts, it will only reset the application data.

Let me know how it goes! Slightly_smiling_Face

Hi Jonas,

Thanks for the welcome! Unfortunately, that solution didn't seem to help much. Every time I try to open any contact from the list, I get a pop-up message, saying 'Unfortunately Contacts has stopped' or something to that effect.

Hi again @deep-downer!

Oh, I see! You can open the application, but when you try and access one of the contacts you get this error message? How are the contacts stored in your device, are they saved on a Google account or directly on the internal storage?

Could you try restarting your device in safe mode and see if there is any change when downloaded applications aren't loaded? Just so we can make sure that none of them are the cause of this.

Let me know if that helps!

Thanks Jonas, for still being here and trying to help me sort this out.

All my contacts are stored in Google account,  and not locally.

Opening in Safe Mode? I didn't even know that's possible on the phone. Mind guiding me through it? Or, maybe a step-by-step instructions. Appreciate your help!

Hi again!

If you press the blue link in my previous message, you will be taken to a guide on how to restart the device in safe mode! You can also follow the link below.
