Most cameras have a predecessor and the NEX-3N’s can be very proud of what Sony has done to improve the genes of possibly the smallest and lightest APS-C sensor compact camera in the world.

Last year’s NEX-F3 was a great option for photographers looking for a light, affordable and entry-level compact camera, but when you look at the new NEX-3N you immediately forget about the F3 and wonder... how has Sony managed come out with a 210g compact camera that offers DSLR/SLT image quality? The explanation may lay in the fact that Sony was one of the first manufacturers to enter the digital Compact System Camera (CSC) market and since then it has become the company to beat.

First of all, the NEX-3N has a completely new and redesigned chassis with an improved grip that makes it much easier to pick up and handle. Besides, the 3N has a 16.1 million pixel sensor and a 180-degree tilting LCD screen, which gives you plenty of freedom when shooting self-portraits and difficult-angled shots. Not to mention it also shoots Full HD video.

This incredibly light compact camera also comes with an extremely light 16-50mm power zoom lens, which again helps to build the idea of a portable yet high quality machine. Alongside the NEX-3N, Sony has launched two new lenses for it: a 20mm f/2.8 and an 18-200mm power zoom lens. Overall this NEX has a staggering choice of 15 lenses at its service.

Among the new features there is Auto Object Framing, Auto Macro Framing and an option for Area-Specific Noise Reduction. Given the possibilities of this super light camera and Sony’s effort to make it affordable to everyone, the NEX-3N is the camera to beat in a very competitive area of the photography market.

Perhaps, the most amazing thing of all is that you can now win a NEX-3N by showing your talent and uploading your best panorama shot to our monthly Competition Gallery.

Remember, it’s all about panoramas...so keep your eyes wide open!
