How do I restore recovered mpeg files from my Sony Cybershot DSC T-100?

I have recovered several mpeg video files from my Sony Cybershot DSC T100 using free recovery software which I had accidentally earlier in the year.

However when I try to play them there is either:

- no image and the sound is distorted

- video is cut very short

I have attached a couple of these files to show you what I mean.

Is there any way to restore these files to their former glories?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Hi Kieraneie, welcome to the Sony Forums

My first suggestion would be to try playing them in VLC as it will play pretty much anything, however if they're no better, the recovery software has probably not fully restored the footage.

Short, corrupted or poor-quality recoveries are often due to data having been partially over-written before the software was run. If that's a possibility, ie if you've used the card/drive that youre recovering from since you deleted the files, then you may have permanently lost portions of the file data, hence the distortion/truncation.

I sincerely hope that's not the case... certainy try different recovery software if you think there's every reason to assume the data is still there.

Good luck

Mick
