Movie mode on DSC-HX5V blocked

I was 2 years very sateisfied with my DSC-HX5V but now I have a problem. Camera blocked movie mode so that only movie can be recorded and no photos is possible to make any more. On display is constantly visible green "Stand by" whatever I do with camera. After setting on defaults, switching repedately on and off "stand by" appears firmly there and presing whatever button movie one (little one on the back of camera) or main one they start to record only movie. I cannot make photos any more. Pls help.

Hi Dubidu11, welcome to the Sony Forums

If the camera won't switch to any of the Auto modes when you turn the Mode dial, there could be a fault with the dial selector. Sometimes contamination with dirt or liquids will cause this.

You could either take the camera to a quality camera shop and ask them to look at it, or follow the instructions on this post:

Dear Mick2011,

it was great to have your response so quick. Key word was Mode dial. Of course that I couldn’t do anything else but record the movie if my Mode dial wheel was all the time in Movie mode. Thank you to remind me to have a look where my Mode dial was. Very simple and inteligent but such sort of simple answers are sometimes most difficult to find. Because it is known as a kind of technical blindness. Thank you so much.
