Dear Community!
What is the difference between this two modes? I read the manual, but its not clear. I need the best possible quality for movies without any EQ, but i need the Distance and the Speaker Levels settings. So, Direct mode is bypasses this settings or not? And what is the A.F.D. exactly? Its the same as the Direct, or its doing something in the background?
I have a 5.1 setup, but i watch 7.1 and Atmos movies too. This sound modes downmixing 7.1 and Atmos to my 5.1, if i set the speaker configuration to 5.1 in the avr setup menu, right?
Thank you!
Hi szabeska,
Welcome to the community.
I'm just going to try to find some answers for you. In the meantime, maybe someone else in the community might have some ideas.
Thanks,
Pascale
Hi szabeska
Direct mode simply outputs the signal as it is, without adding any surround effects to the mix
A.F.D automatically identifies the best processing method and applies it to the signal for decoding
My advice is to try both and choose what sounds best to your ears. You may not even hear any difference which is okay. In that case, I'd select A.F.D
