Can anyone please help. I've a Sony sound system, 5 speakers and sub-woofer, on my Sony tv I have 3 hdmi ports. None of the hdmi ports are labeled exept with 1, 2 and 3. Doesn't matter which order I put sound cable and picture cable in the ports, when I choose source, I can only get eithr picture or sound but not both together!
Thanks.
Hi @SoundSystem1,
Welcome to the Sony Online Community! Let’s start by asking you to provide us the following:
1. The name and type number of all your devices. You can find this on the manufacturers label attached to the rear of the devices.
2. The device map of your connected devices. This is basically a list of the device names and the specific ports you are using to connect them together. Example:
TV [HDMI 1] — Apple TV [HDMI]
Post back the requested information so we can take it from there.
Cheers,
Dutchice
Hi Dutchice,
Thanks for getting back.
The cables coming from the equipment I've listed here were providing HD sound and picture together prior to me removing the Sony tv, so these should be okay. It's only when I've re-connected the tv (with little or no knowledge of what I was really doing) did these issues arise. I have a picture hdmi cable and a sound hdmi cable and 3 untitled hdmi ports, no matter which ports I connect them to, when I go to source, for eg. AV1 will give me picture with no sound and vice-versa for AV2?

Hi @SoundSystem1,
Thanks for providing the type and model numbers. The recommendation is to connect your devices as per the following device map:
In addition make sure you switch on both the AVR and TV then have the following options set in the TV settings menu:
Then make sure you have the following options set in the AVR using the remote:
Finally make sure you have the following option set in the Blu-Ray Disc Player:
That should pretty much do the job. Keep us updated on your results and enjoy your Sony products.
