Rename Videos, photos

Hello,

I don't see any basic functionality to rename photos or videos. It seems too basic for me not being implemented by Sony in their latest Android version. Am I missing something?

I am on lastest version of firmware/upgrade.

What should I do? which third party application is best? When Sony is going to solve this?

Kind regards,

This is not possible to do using default applications in the phone. I suggest that you download a file manager or any other album application from Google play store that supports this.

Shame (i dont know any other apt word) on you 'the great' SONY. How barefacedly u advise ur customers to download a third party app  JUST TO RENAME A PHOTO in your premium smartphone (I don't understand why its called a SMARTphone) and my greater astonishment is when u even doesnt tell when u r going to incorporate that feature in your phone. Mind it this is just one awry.   Perhaps the greatest mistake i've ever made in my life is switching from a samsung galaxy note to sony xperia z ultra... I'm not comparing anything other than an user friendly interface, the aspect in which the z ultra is a thousand million miles far behind g-ntoe. THIS IS NOTHING BUT MY OWN PERSONAL EXPERIECE. (i've used g-note for more than an year before i made the mistake of my life).

Non cyclic homescreens, limited homescreens, no inbuilt app sharing facility, no restart function, limited no of icons in notification panel, are jsut a few to mention. To err is human. But the stubborness to rectify the errors is more than diabolic

I agree with some of your feelings, but I also changed from a Samsung Galaxy S3 to the Xperia Acro S I have today... and in my personal opinion, when I get a new smartphone will still be an Xperia...

I DO miss some features that touchwiz have, but I have come to like the simplicity of the Xperia UI... I prefer not to worry about naming pictures, since the automatic tag is enough and I can quickly look it up in the album app by pinching and scrolling... very easy.

I do not care for 20 toggles I am not going to use, but the most useful I can already find in my Xperia's notification panel, and if there is something missing like "Rotate Screen" there is a Small app that can be placed in the Recent App screen which is as good as having them in the notification bar...

Speaking of small apps, I use them daily and I find it significantly more useful than multi window in Samsung...

There are places where redundancy is actually better... like music controls... and Xperia has them (like a widget, in the notification bar, and in the lock screen... there is even a small app for that in the play store) but Samsung has too many redundancies in their skin that it feels too cluttered.

Sharing can be done thru the Play Store. All phones have limited Home Screens, I actually like them for not being cyclical, it is less confusing, and helps to be organized.

I am not defending everything Sony... I am just stating that I do enjoy the Xperia skin better than the one found in samsung... though Sony should keep up and improve many Many things...

to me:

- Bring back quick scroll (2 finger scrolling, found in ICS Xperias)

- More options with current widgets, and more widgets. (more sizes, more scrollability)

- Better Calendar (Samsung's calendar is really good)

- Ability to bring the Notification Bar even in full screen apps (with a swipe down like in Samsung phones)

Clearly they thought that one through! So you take a picture it's stored in your album and there is no function to rename or label it? Well done Sony.
