Xperia P no function - black screen

My Xperia P is 12 hours old. I have made a few calls and added a couple of apps.

I went to upgrade to ICS but the PC companion froze at the point where the phone needed to reboot with 50% battery.

Since then I have a black (backlit) screen. No other function.

I can reboot with [power]+[vol up] but it reboots back to the same black screen in about 1 second.

I can force a power off with [power]+[vol up] held until I get 3 vibrations. Same black screen when I power back on.

Any suggestions before I take it back to be replaced?

Turn off your phone, hold Volume Up and connect the USB cable to the computer. If the LED light turn blue that means the phone is now on Fastboot mode. chk if dat is working

Got it working.

Hold down power and up. Wait for the single vibration, keep holding until you get the 3 vibrations and the handset will power off.

Plug it into the computer and run the upgrade process with it turned off (ignoring the instructions to turn it on again).

I'm now happily running ICS.

For the phone to turn off,you need to press power button+volume up,until you feel the phone vibrating three times.Connect to your computer and upgrade with pc companion,following the steps provided there.

my phone's screen stopped working though the touch is working i can answer calls and unlock my phone because i memorize the pattern but the screen is black, i tried connecting it to the compuster but it wont detect it , (xperia P) please help me
