Connection to mobile network not possible

Screenshot_Sony.png

Hi,

my 2 year old sony X Compact does not connect to mobile network anymore. Instead of signal strength indicator there is a gray triangle (see screenshot) and it says "Funkschnittstelle deaktiviert" = radia deactivated.

Rebooting does not help, Sim work in another phone, facory reset does not help, flashing firmware with pc companion does not help. Any ideas?

@Memo51

by any chance did you or anyone manually installed an update (flashed a firmware) before this error?

have you tested different SIM cards with the phone?

Hi, I've got exactly the same problem.

I just bought a used Xperia X Compact, which won't work with either one of my two SIM cards (spanish Simyo and austrian HoT). Both cards work with my old Xperia U.

Did you find a solution for this problem? Otherwise I will have to send it back...

Thanks in advance for answering.

Edit:

Model: F5321

Android-Version: 8.0.0

Build-Nr.: 34.4.A.2.118

Booting in Safe Mode won't make it work either...

When you tried safe mode then there are 3 options.

- Settings -> reset network settings

- Goto providers site, find APN settings for your device and set APN manually

(settings->network&internet->mobile network-> Access Point Names and tap on the +

- Do a Software repair with Xperia Companion

If all fails then open the support app on your device and take up contact with your local support.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

Meanwhile I think I've found the problem:

A friend asked me if I had simlock active on the phone, so I checked the phones status on imei.info and what a surprise, Yes, there is a factory simlock active.

I'm taking the phone to a shop today, let's see, what they can do...

I'll report afterwards.

Where did you buy?

Stolen phones can be locked.

I bought it on a spanish online-shop from a french merchant.

Yesterday I went to 3 different shops and neither of them was able to unlock it... they said that all 5 attemts to unlock it were already used... whatever that means... I'm really pissed at the merchant right now, who guaranteed a fully functional phone.

Edit:

According to imei.info the phone originally was bought by a swedish company and the manufacturers warranty ran out 2019-06. It also says that the phone is not blacklisted, but under "Network Status" it says "Fraud Identified" o.o

I do think that the majority of X Compacts sold as "new" today are in some way repackaged previously-registered phones. They may be opened at the shop, or retail customer-returns. The phone was released in 2016, and so the likelihood of finding a true factory sealed box is increasingly unlikely. But, it is possible to obtain a phone that shows little or no evidence of prior use, and if the battery has sufficient capacity (say, 2600 mA or better), then that's an indication that you should obtain good use from it.

Actually I already had a X Compact before, but lost it to the sea Slightly_frowning_Face

I really liked it, so I bought the same again... never imagined to have such troubles with buying a used phone though... well, it's going back to the seller and a new one (from a different shop) will arrive in 1 or 2 days. This time a functioning one hopefully...
