Hi all,
About six weeks ago my 1 year old Xperia X started having battery issues - the device drained from 83% to empty in about 2 hours or less while I was working, and upon checking app usage, this all seemed normal. I charged it back up and it charged incredibly slowly - to about 30% over six hours.
That night I had it on charge and it charged to about 18% overnight, which immediately dropped to 13% when I was trying to fix it with the Xperia Companion. It isn't recognised at all by Xperia Companion either.
I logged it as an issue and scheduled it for a fix and suddenly, miraculously, all was well again. I cancelled the fix request and my phone and I danced merrily into the sunset.
Now, naturally, I'm having the same issue again. Woke up yesterday to it at about 18% again. Managed to charge it to 44% over 3 hours whilst the device was off. Had it on charge all evening yesterday whilst on (so I could access Whatsapp from my computer) and it stayed consistently at 1% with no apps open and the screen off of standby. Turned it off to charge overnight and it charged to 18%, this itme dropping to 15% when I took it off charge. This is beyond a joke. I've had this phone for a little over a year and had nothing but issues with it.
So here's what I've tried: different chargers, different plug sockets, charging by computer, even charging by xbox. Tried charging in safe mode and ultra stamina mode and turned off. It charges slightly quiker when turned off but still takes 4x longer than it ought. Tried connection to Xperia Companion to get 'device not recognised''. When connecting to the computer I get 'USB not recgnoised - device may have malfunctioned'. I'm at the point where I'm ready to flog it in and just go back to iPhone.
Any suggestions before I literally lose my mind? I work 20 miles away and rely on trains to get to where I need to go, and I need my phone. Going to buy a backup one today so I can get to work safely but I need this issue sorted asap.
In Xperia Companion you can find a choice 'device not recognised'
Go there and try.
Tried that. When it got to the 'press and hold volume and power key' step, I did exactly as it suggested and nothing happened. Don't know where to go from here.
Seems like a USB connection problem
When you connect to the computer can you see your phone with Explorer? (if on Windows)
Does a popup appear on your phone which asks to choose Charging, Transfer Files or Midi?
Can you upload and download files?
If negative the go to the Support app on your phone and contact Sony Support for repair.
