I have not needed to ever put on these forums any complaints about Sony mobiles, yet I have to do so now. My Xperia X Compact cable is absolutely appalling to use. Every night to charge the mobile I have to spend minutes to get the cable in the mobile 'just right' to allow it to charge OK. Biggest problem is that it just pops out by itself, and even when its connected into the mobile it doesn't start charging unless you move it around and eventually you get it to stay in and recognise to charge.
Frankly, I find this appalling engineering from a major company such as Sony. How come we ahave a high tech piece of technology that simply does not connect and hold the charger cable ?
The cable is the Sony own one and I've tried other Sony cables too, all with the same problem.
I am very dissapointed with Sony after having many mobiles from them, but this one is the worst. I will not have a Sony again as I don't want to have to 'play' with a cable EVERY night to get a charge.
Not even worth considering charging in a car or elsewhere as the mere vibration of an alert can mean it drops the connection and the cable falls out.
Not expecting a useful answer here, but felt I needed to express my dissapointment with Sony after years of reliable mobiles and other technology from them - just for a cable that does not fit in the mobile.

@Skinnd1if you're having the same issue with multiple cables, then it's probably a problem with your phone's charging port, not the cable itself.
Thank you, you may well be right and I'm not sure how I can fix such a thing without it going back to Sony.
It still is the fact that it's most likely poor engineering on their part. I have never experienced such an issue before when it's a fundamental component.
Thanks for responding.
This won't help you at all, but I wanted to let you know that I am experiencing exactly the same symptoms. When I bought the phone 9 months ago, it had a nice, snug fit with any USB-C cable, Now I am lucky if it stays connected for half an hour no matter what cord I use. Too bad - I otherwise like the phone. Did you get warranty service?
I ended up sending back to Sony who fixed it and it has been working perfectly since. Still think it is a design fault, but if you have your phone still under warranty then worth it sending it back.
One of the things I have found - and with previous Sony phones - is that the port picks up lots of lint from my pocket. It probably isn't recommended but I find inserting a small pin into the port usually brings out some detritus that is physically preventing the cable from staying in.
