Wifi authentication problem since latest update

Hi.

I am having problems with my Sony Xperia Compact X ever since the latest update (2-3 weeks ago), and now I keep getting authentication problems every time I try to connect to my home wifi. If I am lucky enough to connect after several attempts (and also resisted to smash my phone to the ground from frustration!), the wifi drops after only a few minutes, and the signal bar says there's poor signal, despite the fact that I am standing right in front of the router.

This was never an issue before, so any help will be greatly appreciated. I got a new router installed yesterday, and my computer connects to wifi with no problems.
Not sure if relevant, but I have no problems connecting to public wifi, only secured networks.

Soon there will be a Android upgrade from 7 to 8.

Hoop that that's going to help.

Keep switiching flight mode, is less frustrating.

Thank you for letting us know it was the flightmode that was the problem.  In my case it solved the problem.

The flightmode created a problem with trying to connect with the network.
