Hi @Ahmed_Talaat,

Welcome to the community.

I'm sorry to hear that your fingerprint scanner isn't working correctly. There's a few things you can do to resolve this. Please try these methods one after the other. Verify whether the problem was solved after each method, before trying the next one.

  • Check if the fingerprint sensor recognizes your finger by looking for the message “Try again” at the bottom of the screen when you touch the power key.  If you don’t see the message, make sure that both your finger and the power key are clean and dry. Use a clean, dry cloth to wipe off any dirt or moisture from your finger and the power key before trying again.
  • Restart your phone and register your fingerprint again.
  • Unlock your device with your backup PIN or password. Using the Fingerprint Manager, delete all the registered fingerprints and register your fingerprint again.
  • Any dents and scratches on, or near, the fingerprint sensor in the power key may decrease the recognition rate of the fingerprint function.
  • Make sure that no protective cover or case blocks the fingerprint sensor located in the power key.

Normally, my hands are very dry.
Which means when my hands are sweaty or right after eashed hands, it doesn't recognize.
My solution was to add more finger print in different situation. hope this helps.

Hello,

I have a german Xperia X.

my fingerprint sensor is not working since the first day.

After dozends of attemps that I got the messages like 'timeout' and 'out of memory' I finally got one finger scanned.

After a couple of updates the setting itself disappered from settings-menu and came back.

Now when touching the sensor it always says that sensor hardware is not present.

I tried factory reset, but without success.

It's just rubbish all this having to constantly try to clean the reader and the finger and still having to mess around with pin...if the device is so sensitive to everyday use it is useless! Clearly not fit for purpose!

Why should we pay for kit that is being effectively beta tested on us or already proven to be problematical. It is the usual crap the tech firms do to us consumers...sell us stuff that is not up to claims and then make us work to the problems...my life is wasting away sorting out the probs I have with things and services I buy!

Get it right! I want a new phone that does what it says on the tin!!
