I'm getting bad quality sound from the microphone, scratchy and hissy - people are saying they can't understand me very well (to be honest the sound quality of incoming calls is pretty poor too, compared to my old s2) and it's also apparent in recordings such as the microphone test. I see a lot of people are having similar issues. My question is whether this can be sorted out by a firmware update or is it an unfixable hardware issue? If it's the former I'll hold out as I like the phone in a lot of ways, but if it's the latter it's going straight back to the shop. Thx.
Hi together,
I am too having the same issues:
- Callers hear their own voice (echo) during phonecalls
- Calles can not understand me during phonecalles (microphone issues)
I have today updated to the brandnew software 17.1.1.A.0.438.
The echo issues are gone. However the microphone issues still remain.
The phone is clearly not usuable for telephoning.
I want my money back and will never buy any Sony products again and will tell all my friends and family not to do so either.
me too,
I use google search to find the way to fix this problem and it take me to here. Update to firmware .314 but the problem is still there. I must to talk louder than all my previous phone to make people on other side can understand.
That's my first phone from Sony I have, disappointed about a Sony flagship.
go into call settings and make sure you dont have equaliser on another setting than default setting which is normal
There are definitely problems with the Xperia Z2's Noise Cancellation mechanism. I would call people and they could hear other things around me -- TVs, cars going by, other people talking, etc. -- but not hear my voice at all until I held the phone at arm length from my mouth. I turned off "Microphone noise suppression" under {Settings | Call Settings} and the problem went away.
I have two brand new Z2 handsets and people are constantly complaining that they can hardly hear me when I am using the mobiles microphone (no issues when using a Bluetooth device). Same issue on any network and I am still facing the same issue after updating to Android 5.0.2 yesterday.
Anyone else still having these issues and any further thoughts on a resolution?
No need! I had the same problem but it is a simple fix. Go to settings > Calls > then turn off noise supression! It works a treat!!!
The problem is the noise cancellation. you have it active and it **bleep** on xperia. it's so aggresive, if you dont hold your mouth next to the microphone, it detects your voice as a noise. Just disable the noise cancelation and it will sound normal again. Had the same problem, fixed it this way. trust me, nothing is wrong with your phone in particular, its just that function. it's bad.
