Headphones not working.

2 days ago, my headphones suddenly stopped working on my Z2. Please provide a solution as soon as possible.

So here are the details, 

1.  The headphones I am using are the stock HTC headphones, the ones supplied with HTC One M8.

2.  They work fine with my PC and my other phone, HTC One M8.

2.  Other headphones seem to work fine (stock Sony headphones, Samsung headphones with mic, to be exact).

3.  The phone is running 23.5.A.570 - RU (Android 6.0 Marshmallow) firmware.

Whenever I plug in the headphones, the phone does not detect them an plays audio through the phone speakers. The headphone used to work fine. i tried:

1. Clearing data and disabling Smart Connect.

2. Blowing out lint and cleaning the headphone jack.

3. Cleaning the headphone connector.

Point 2 is why it's not a generic bug that needs fixing.
My suggestion would be to try safe mode and see if you still have issues, if so, try backing up and performing a repair installation using pc companion.
If that fails, contact local support or use other headphones.

Tried booting into safe mode,  did not work

Tried repair install, did not work

Any other recommended solutions?

Don't call it a miracle but...I plugged it again after a couple of hours and it worked.
