z2 problems sending/receiving texts

Hi,

I have had my z2 for almost 2 years and just the last month or so it has been struggling with texting.  Using default app or smsGo the phone would lag super hard, not recieve some texts or recieve them many hours later, and had problems sending texts without queuing them for hours.  Now using google messenger and it no longer lags but still has problems not recieving or taking a long time to recieve some texts and taking forever to send some.  I factory reset the phone and updated the software and the issue still persists in the default  app, smsGo, and google messenger.  Happens when texting to/from different phones (iphone/android).  The phone has no physical  damage.  Any help would be great.  Trying not to buy a new phone when mine still works great for everything but texting.

That might be a SIM card acting up, get a brand new SIM card and report back. You can also test your device on >>> safe mode

Welcome to the community,

It may also be a good idea to see how many messages you have, if you have thousands it may be time to clean up and remove a good portion of them. 

What @uliwooly has supplied is also a good idea, however you could try using a friend or family members SIM card first before buying one.

I tried the two solutions and neither worked unfortunately.  I was getting an error about not being able to get mms messages from Textra app, which stopped happening after i got the new SIM card.  But I still missed texts after new SIM  and deleting old texts.

Then you may need to perform a backup and then try reinstalling the software. Simply download Xperia Companion and follow the instructions it supplies for backup and then select the Software repair section.
